Getting Involved

TAYALA is still in its infant stages, and thus to become involved now could signify a vital role in the establishment of this charity.It will provide an opportunity for you to demonstrate initiative and ideas to help this charity achieve its goals. Involvement exists at many levels. Each role reflects the amount of input you wish to have in the administration of TAYALA, with opportunities provided ranging to accommodate the most eager to youth simply wishing to show their support. Levels of involvement include;

a) For individuals who live overseas

Although our name currently suggests a solely Australian focus, we aim to create an international coalition of young people working in their own ways to assist the ICBL so that we can co ordinate international efforts to combat landmines. We are especially interested in working with those involved in any way with the International Youth Parliament. We already have contacts in South East Asia and believe that soon we will have links with ngos in Africa .

No matter which country you are from, you can become part of this coalition by

•  speaking at your former or current school about landmines

•  donating or encouraging others to donate any amount to the ICBL or other landmine aid bodies

•  volunteer time for one of the afore listed ngos

This is only a few of the many ways this can happen. The opportunities involved in international co-operation are endless, ranging from co – ordinating fundraising events, sharing databases and information, including local knowledge at both ends and much more. Involvement of young people from other countries is an especially exciting way for young people to help build an international youth body dedicated to educating others about landmine use and assisting victims of this horrible weapon of war. Go to our Contact Us page for methods of contacting us and discussing how we could work together.

b) For those who live in Australia

There are many opportunities for young Australians.

Supporter

This category is especially relevant for those who may not constitute ‘youth’ or are looking for a method of providing assistance without direct involvement. Example of this includes donations from corporations, non-governmental bodies or schools. Donations are directed to the landmine aid centre of your choice. For most relevance for many, this could represent an opportunity for your school to provide donations to TAYALA, perhaps as part of a plain-clothes day that your school may hold. See our Mission Statement page for how we could design a program specifically suited to your school.

Member

This position is geared for young Australians to become directly involved in TAYALA without having to make a lasting commitment. As a member, you would be welcome at meetings and could present your ideas for discussion. Further, you may have the opportunity to become a Director, below.

Director

This position is for young Australians looking to make a significant contribution to TAYALA within the restraints of other time commitments. Our committee members are all volunteers and so always retain the choice of what capacity they would like to contribute, however the role of director generally requires a desire to make a lasting commitment and provides the most opportunity for individual endeavour on projects.

TAYALA is an organization for young Australians, run by young Australians. Every position on the executive is occupied by a person under the age of 26, essentially enforcing our youthful nature.

TAYALA provides an opportunity for you to do much more than help victims of landmines worldwide. Joining and taking initiative will allow you to develop your communication skills to ready yourself for whatever may await you in the professional world. You can add to your resume something a little different, as joining an organization such as TAYALA will provide you with a multitude of opportunities to demonstrate and develop useful skills for future employment and lay the foundations for future charitable projects.

To get involved, simply contact the organization via email us at antilandmines@mail2president.com or go to our Contact Our Committee page and tell us your desired level of commitment.
