I want my art to be easy to comprehend. I like the idea that someone can look at my work and see exactly what it is about without having to read an A4 page of 'Artists Statement'. I've gotten thoroughly sick of the art world over the course of my degree, and I've decided I don't want to be a part of it. I just want to make stuff when I feel like it, and enjoy it. I don't think it needs the pretentious art wank (as Liz calls it, and I fully agree with the term). It's about the beauty of the form. The form has to speak for itself, before you can speak for it.
For this I included two of my life drawings from Ante's classes, two pictures from my final body of work at sculpture and a self portrait I did in watercolours (my 'Sylph Protrait'). |
